White Stone and Burning Bowl Ceremony

Ellen Debenport

Podcast Powered By Podbean

We celebrated two of our favorite ceremonies to leave the old year behind and enter the new one with great expectations.

Burning Bowl You will have a chance to write down everything you want to leave behind in the old year and burn it later as you wish.

White Stone Ceremony In meditation, you may ask for a special word or phrase to help set your intention for 2013.

This podcast also includes a song, "On This White Stone," written by Sue K. Riley and performed by Kit Holmes. Thanks to them for permission to include this moving melody.

Be also aware that it is helpful to have a piece of paper and pen to write down things to throw away and another(a white stone is preferable) to write down your special phrase.

For more information on Sue Riley, a Unity Minister in Florida, you can go to sueriley.com

For more information on Kit Holmes, our music minister and a Grammy-nominated song-writer and performer, you can go to: www.kitholmesmusic.com

Three Faces of God

Ellen Debenport

We begin the Advent season, our preparation for Christmas, with another look at Ken Wilber's Three Faces of God. They are transcendent (God is All), immanent (I AM), and the I-Thou relationship with an outer God, which is where many of us started but now struggle. And where does the birth of Jesus fit into this?

No God But God

Rev. Ellen Debenport

The Ten Commandments were rules that helped create a harmonious and just society, but now they evoke a punishing God who keeps books on our behavior.  Should they govern the way we live today?  Rev. Ellen begins a new Sunday series to explore these familiar edicts from divine consciousness.

God is all there is.  It's the first commandment and Unity's first principle.   Sounds easy, yet most of us worship more false idols and graven images than we realize.

Jesus the Mystic

Rev. Ed Townley

Podcast Powered By Podbean

The “lost” gospels of Thomas, Philip and Mary Magdalene are more than varying versions of the four gospels we know from the New Testament. They present the teachings of Jesus as a mystical path of love and personal empowerment, rather than a hierarchical path of fear and obedience.

Rev. Ed Townley is senior minister at Unity of Greater Hartford (Connecticut) and host of Bible Alive! on Unity Online Radio. He previously served churches in Oregon and Chicago and was associate minister to Rev. Ellen at Unity of Dallas. He shares the central message, unique energy and clear relationship to the universal spiritual principles on which Unity is founded. Rev. Ed is author of The Secret According to Jesus, meditations on the Sermon on the Mount, and is preparing a book on Revelation for publication by Unity Books later this year.
